Boom Alley Drums®
Boom AlIey Drums® evolved into the progressive drum company it is today thanks to drummers and clients who sought help dealing with problems inherent with their instruments. My enduring curiosity and knowledge of acoustics and vibration were helpful in solving those problems. Boom AlIey Drums® saw the need to develop its product basis and launch the next generation of drums and components that accentuate the qualities of the raw drum shell.
My design parameters drastically reduce the weight and mass of the components, ultimately balancing the physics of the finished drum. These design qualities logically increase the dynamic range of each drum size and influence the feel of the instrument.
In 2003 my sound expectations, playing experience, and experimentation lead me to develop Boom AlIey Drums® composite Lugs. A drastic detour from typically designed drum components of the day, staying true to factors that compliment the instrument while maintaining great looks. Drums designed for players that demand sonic inspiration without the weight.
In addition to the lugs, Boom AlIey Drums® bass drum E-Z-Nubs™ were inspired by simple bass drum claw designs from the 40’s. The traditional bass drum claws of past and present have been, in my opinion, an overlooked and sorely under-designed component of the drumset. Any drummer with experience changing bass drum heads knows what I’m talking about. Boom AlIey Drums® bass drum E-Z-Nubs™ spare the player the undo chore inherent with changing bass drum heads.
